EU and Georgia enter into agreements for 46.6 million euros

On July 11, at the conference held in Batumi, the European Union (EU) agreed to allocate 46.6 million euros to Georgia for programmes to strengthen the security and improve the efficiency of the country's economic management.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 11-12, Batumi hosts the international conference "The European Way of Georgia", dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership.

"The EU supports Georgia in matters of security so that the government of the country can more effectively protect its citizens from crime and natural disasters," said Lawrence Meredith, Director for Neighbourhood East at the European Commission.

According to Vazil Hudák, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), out of the countries of the Eastern Partnership, the EIB invested the highest amount of money per capita in Georgia, the "Georgia Online" reports.

It should be noted that the European Union has repeatedly allocated financial assistance to Georgia. So, in May 2017, the country got 32 million euros to support its reforms.
