Azerbaijani activist Abulfaz Bunyadov released from prison
Abulfaz Bunyadov, a bedridden prisoner, is earlier released from prison in Azerbaijan for health reasons. Such a decision was pronounced by the court, which granted the defence motion.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 11, 2018, Abulfaz Bunyadov, who was paralyzed after being wounded by law enforcers in a special operation in Nardaran, and Elkhan Iskenderov were found guilty of terrorism and other serious crimes. The court sentenced Abulfaz Bunyadov to 15 years of imprisonment. On June 8, the Centre for the Protection of Political Prisoners called on the Azerbaijani authorities to release Abulfaz Bunyadov in connection with a sharp deterioration in his health state.
On November 26, 2015, during the special operation held in Nardaran, seven persons, including two law enforcers, were killed in the house of religious activist Abulfaz Bunyadov. After the special operation, Abulfaz Bunyadov, paralyzed because of his injury, was detained.
"The judge saw the health state of Abulfaz Bunyadov. He can only move his head and hands, while the rest of his body is paralyzed," the advocate noted.
