Russian State Duma supports sanctions against Georgia

Members of the Russian State Duma voted for the introduction of economic measures against Georgia. The question of a ban on the import of Georgian wines and sorts of water and on the remittances was submitted for approval to the Russian government. The President of Georgia called on the Russian authorities "not to react to the actions of radical forces."

At night on July 8, several hundred people gathered in front of the building of the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel with the demand of an apology for the fact that TV presenter Giorgi Gabuniya used bad language on the air while speaking of Vladimir Putin. The "Rustavi-2" TV Channel temporarily stopped broadcasting for security reasons, on July 8, it was announced that the TV Channel was operating in usual regime.

"The members of the Russian State Duma categorically condemn the anti-Russian provocations in Georgia and note that the open attacks of the radical forces of the country lead to the degradation of the Russian-Georgian relations," the Russian State Duma's website reports.

In his turn, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has assured that tourists should not fear for their safety in Georgia.
