Journalist detained near "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala

Idris Yusupov, a correspondent of the Dagestani newspaper "Novoye Delo" (New Cause), reported about his detention during a raid conducted by law enforcers in the area of the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. The reporter regarded his detention as obstructing the activities of a journalist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Makhachkala, believers of the "Tangim" Mosque repeatedly complained about regular Friday raids conducted by law enforcers and detentions of believers. On March 12, the believers appealed to the Prosecutor's Office and after that the law enforcers' activity decreased.

Idris Yusupov, a correspondent of the Dagestani newspaper "Novoye Delo", was detained and taken to one of the Makhachkala police stations, the "Abrechestvo Veschaet" Telegram channel reports today.

"I was taken during a police raid near the 'Tangim' Mosque. I am going to file a complaint about obstructing journalistic activities," said Idris Yusupov as quoted by the Dagestani newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft) on its Telegram channel.
