Action at Georgian Parliament ended in live chain

In Tbilisi, the protesters demanding resignation of Giorgi Gakhariya, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), formed a live chain around the building of the parliament.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 24, during the protest action held in front of the parliament building, protesters demanded resignation of Giorgi Gakhariya; holding the next parliamentary elections under the proportional electoral system; and to release all those detained at the action at night on June 21, the "Rustavi-2" Georgian TV Company has reported.

The protesters said that the MIA head has no moral right to hold the post after the dispersal of the action at night on June 21. During their action, they placed a Gakhariya's bust on the steps of the parliament building, an eye thereof being closed with a blindfold – a symbol of the fact that people were shot in the eyes during the dispersal of the June 21 rally.

Surrounding the parliament building with a live chain, they chanted "Go away!" The live chain lasted for a few minutes and was accompanied by the Georgian anthem.
