Two natives of Dagestan detained in case on financing IS*

In Moscow and the Moscow Region, law enforcers detained two natives of Dagestan, suspected of transferring money to terrorists. Searches at homes of Dagestani natives are being carried out in seven regions, including Dagestan, the Stavropol Territory, and the Astrakhan Region, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 18, law enforcers searched a Moscow apartment rented by Ali Aliomarov, a resident of Dagestan, as well as the house of his parents in Kizlyar, as his relatives reported. According to a wife of Ali Aliomarov, investigators suspect that in 2017, her husband transferred 150,000 roubles to a beneficiary in Libya. The woman treats the investigators' version as baseless. She has explained that the family did not have such an amount of money.

Today, the ICRF has reported about the detention in Moscow and the Moscow Region of two persons suspected of financing the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court.

According to the investigators, in the period from 2014 to September 2017, members of the IS* - citizens of Russia who stayed in Syria - recruited residents of Dagestan to finance terrorist activities, and they transferred money to terrorists from a number of the Russian regions.

Law enforcers conduct searches at homes of suspects, as well as "persons associated with the financing of terrorism," in Moscow, the Moscow Region, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Astrakhan Region, the Stavropol Territory, and Dagestan, the ICRF's press service reports.
