Gadjiev, Tambiev and Rizvanov state falsification of their case

The defence of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Kemal Tambiev and Abubakar Rizvanov, who were arrested for two months within the case of financing terrorism, intends to appeal against their arrest. Gadjiev has called the evidence of the guilt "invented"; Tambiev stated an attempt to hide the fact of his beating; and Rizvanov complained of moral pressure.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 14, law enforcers detained Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an editor of "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly. Apart from him, two more persons were detained within the case of financing terrorism – Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charity fund, and Kemal Tambiev.

On June 18, the Sovietsky District Court of Makhachkala considered the investigators' petitions on selecting the measures of freedom restriction of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Kemal Tambiev and Abubakar Rizvanov.

The defence of Gadjiev said that in the course of the session, the defendant once again rejected the charges of financing terrorism. He stated that he had not transferred any money to any charitable funds, but stood for targeted support of those in need.

Taulan Ebzeev, a Tambiev's advocate, made an oral statement to the court about the crime committed by unidentified persons in relation to his client.

"Tambiev was beaten up to force him to sign testimonies against some persons, whom he had allegedly known, about their involvement in the crime. In fact, he hadn't said that; he was forced to sign it," said the advocate.

In his speech, Abubakar Rizvanov said that placing in custody was an attempt to exert moral pressure on him, while there were no grounds for charging him. He noted that he was suspected of financing terrorism, as he was associated with the "Ansar" Charitable Fund.
