Armenia: police detain Pashinyan's opponents

Policemen have detained 11 activists of the "AdequaD" movement, organized by opponents of the country's Premier.

Activists were detained on June 8 after police received a phone call saying that activists were terrorizing citizens, Arthur Danielyan, the leader of the movement, reported on the Facebook.

A day before, "AdequaD" activists held a march in Yerevan dressed in black T-shirts with the symbols of the movement, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. Mr Danielyan linked the detention with their opposition to Nikol Pashinyan.

The detention of activists is a political persecution, says the statement of the "AdequaD".

Konstantin Ter-Nakalyan, the editor-in-chief of the "BlogNews.am" and a movement activist, believes that Pashinyan's calls create an atmosphere of fear.

Let us note here that a few days before the incident, Pashinyan instructed law enforcement bodies to "put on an iron counterattack on the forces engaged in propaganda of violence" and linked with the country's "earlier existed corrupt system."

The "AdequaD" movement was founded after the "velvet" revolution by Arthur Danielyan, a former Pashinyan's supporter, and Narek Malyan, a former adviser to the head of the Armenian Police. They sharply criticized Pashinyan and his team. On May 27, it became known about the creation of the "AdequaD" Party.
