Volgograd activists call Kremlin to peace with Ukraine

In Volgograd, four activists have held solo pickets demanding from Russian authorities to stop putting pressure on Ukraine.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that a group of Volgograd activists is regularly holding solo pickets against Russian government's home and foreign policies. On May 9, Volgograd oppositionists again spoke out against the armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine, calling for an end to the war and forging Russian-Ukrainian peaceful relations.

On May 19, for three hours, four Volgograd activists held their solo pickets criticizing the Kremlin's policy towards Ukraine. They expressed support for the democratic presidential election in this country and demanded from Russian authorities to stop political pressure on Ukraine, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Galina Tikhenko, a pensioner from the city of Volzhsky, showed her posters to passersby: "I wish Ukraine peace and good", "No to war”, "I want fair elections like in Ukraine" and "Pirates of the Azov Sea, release Ukrainian sailors!"

"We support the democratic choice of the Ukrainian people; and we want the elections in Russia to be same fair and democratic. So far, we have no democracy here," Ms Tikhenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
