KBR resident accused of links with Syrian militants

The case of a resident of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), who is accused of participating in hostilities in Syria on militants' side, has been sent to the court.

According to investigators, in October 2013, the man joined an illegal armed formation (IAF) in Syria and fought against the governmental forces of this country. In Russia, he was put on the international wanted list, and was detained in Moldova, after which he was extradited to Russia.

The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison, says to the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the KBR.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April this year, a case of a resident of Dagestan, accused of complicity with the armed underground and participation in an IAF outside of Russia, was sent to the court.
