Political emigrants urge to dismantle monument to Heydar Aliyev in Bucharest
Romanian authorities should revise their relations with Azerbaijan, where human rights are violated, protesters in Berlin have stated. The organizers of the action issued a statement, in which they also called on Romania to dismantle the monument to Heydar Aliyev.
The protest was held outside the Romanian Embassy on May 10. The emigrants from Azerbaijan asked the Romanian authorities to take into account that during the years of Heydar Aliyev's rule, rights and freedoms were violated in Azerbaijan, for which the country was criticized by international organizations.
The video posted on the "Mühacir TV" YouTube channel shows about 35 people standing with posters in the German language and Azerbaijani flags. The posters, in particular, read: "We want Azerbaijan without corruption and without dictator!" and "Stop caviar diplomacy!" (Translated by the "Caucasian Knot").
The bust of Heydar Aliyev was installed in Bucharest in October 2004. Three years later, the park where the bust is located was reconstructed and named after Aliyev. The memorial complex "Heydar Aliyev – National Leader of Azerbaijani Nation" was created in this park.
