Actions in support of Israel held in Georgia

Today, the cities of Tbilisi and Kutaisi have hosted solidarity actions with residents of Israel, who mark today the Remembrance Day for Victims of Wars and Terror Acts.

About 50 people came out to the rally in front of the parliament building in Tbilisi. "We are holding an action in support of Israel. May peace be there; may the country prosper. We are in solidarity with Israel," Max Meir Shavit, Rector of the Academy of Oscar Schindler, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Mr Shavit, he had posted a message about the action on the Facebook; and over a thousand people marked it with their "Likes". He stated in his comment on the events in Israel that there is no war in Israel against the Palestinians. "Palestinians don't want a war; it is unleashed by dishonest politicians," he has noted.

The participants of the action in Tbilisi handed out stickers to passers-by with the words "We are for Israel" and "No to terror; no to anti-Semitism". They told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about what had brought them to the action.

"Our call from here applies to the whole world; it should be heard by leaders of all countries who can say the word, confirmed by action. We saw how tonight up to 600 missiles were fired from the Gaza Strip at Ashdod and Ashkelon. There killed and wounded people. Israel has the right to defend its citizens, among which there are not only Jews, but also Muslims and Christians," Djamlet Khukhashvili, a former sports journalist, has stated.
