CaT employees detained in Ingushetia

Law enforcers have detained Magomed Alamov and Evgeny Chilikov, employees of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT), and a cameraman, Leonid Utkin, who were filming in Nazran, the Human Rights Council under the Russian President has reported today.

The incident occurred next to the building of the Centre for Combating Extremism (CCE) in Nazran, the capital of Ingushetia.

Armed people approached Alamov, Chilikov and Utkin, who filmed a story about torture in Northern Caucasus, "detained them in a rude manner, brought to a nearby car and blocked them in it," the above Human Rights Council has stated today on its website, referring to Igor Kalyapin, the CaT's head.

Mr Kalyapin said that he was "extremely concerned" that "unlawful actions" could be committed against employees of the CaT and the cameraman.

According to Dmitry Piskunov, a CaT employee, law enforcers detained the filming crew, believing that someone from among law enforcers was filmed during the process.
