Dagestani resident suspected of links with IS
A criminal case has been instituted against a 20-year-old man on suspicion of his participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF) in Makhachkala, investigators have reported.
In 2017, the man swore allegiance to the leader of the "Islamic State" (IS, earlier ISIL, a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court) and took part in an IAF, created in Makhachkala, says the website of the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation.
The man faces imprisonment for 10-20 years.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 15, 2019, in Rostov-on-Don, a trial began of Shamil Kadyrov, a resident of Makhachkala, who, as investigators believe, had transferred over 800,000 roubles to IS members. The defendant has refused to plead guilty.
