Nine flash mob participants detained in Armenia

Detained participants of a protest action against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are accused of disturbing public order.

The flash mob #sutNikol (lying Nikol), participants of which drew graffiti on the asphalt, was directed "against deception and falsehood of the authorities," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Narek Samsonyan, a coordinator of the initiative.

According to him, the protest action took place in Yerevan and other cities of the country. 32 activists participated in the action, and nine of them were detained.

With the help of the flash mob, the activists are trying to "prepare society" for the Citizen's Day, which "was recently approved by the current government," notes activist Konstantin Ter-Nakalyan.

The Citizen's Day will be celebrated in Armenia on the last Saturday of April, MPs of the country's parliament have decided. Opponents of the innovation associated the new holiday with the date of the Serzh Sargsyan's resignation.

The activists did not damage state property, but only drew graffiti on the asphalt, Konstantin Ter-Nakalyan emphasized. "We used our right of free will, which others did earlier, including Nikol Pashinyan, when he was not yet the Prime Minister of Armenia," the activist noted.
