Armenian customs officer quits after Pashinyan's claims

Ayk Martirosyan, a customs inspector, who received a remark from the Prime Minister due to his inappropriate attitude to the Armenian flag, has been dismissed. The State Revenue Committee has informed that Martirosyan quitted his post at his own will.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 9, Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, at the Ararat customs terminal made a remark to one of the customs inspectors about his "inappropriate attitude to the national flag" and ordered him to write a resignation application. The Premier's demand caused criticism in social networks.

Ayk Martirosyan, a senior inspector of the Customs Service of Armenia, was dismissed from his work. He wrote a resignation application at his own will; and the head of the above State Revenue Committee approved it, a source from the Committee told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on April 12.

A day before, on April 11, David Ananyan, the head of the above Committee, told reporters that he himself personally had not oblige anyone to write a resignation application.

Let us remind you that Pashinyan's demand to dismiss the customs inspector was treated by Armenian human rights defenders as a violation of the Labour Code.
