Refugees in NKR tell about housing problems
Forced migrants from Azerbaijan need money, help and suitable housing, activists from the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) assert. They have set up a group "Gone with the Fate" on the Facebook, which, in their opinion, should draw attention to the problems of refugees and allow them to get help from sponsors.
The group "Gone with the Fate" appeared on the Facebook on April 9; the initiative to create a platform for telling the stories of refugees belongs to Ruzanna Avakyan and Nonna Tovmasyan, refugees from Azerbaijan, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"Our project is aimed at drawing the attention of the state, local and international humanitarian and human rights organizations, the Ombudsperson's office and sponsors to legal and social problems not only of refugees, but also of other people, who suffered from the conflict, and who live in Artsakh (the self-name of the NKR, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), in particular," Ruzanna Avakyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The main problem for refugees is their social insecurity, in particular, the lack of proper housing, she has added.
"Many families fled from Azerbaijan, leaving all their property there; and they had to start from scratch in the NKR ... If, we can say, people have some housing in cities, in the countryside many families of refugees live in ruins. The state is unable to support everyone. Therefore, we thought that by creating this platform, we would find those who can help the refugees," Ms Avakyan has explained.
