ECtHR finds justified to blow up house of Ali Taziev's relatives
The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg has refused to satisfy the complaint lodged by relatives of one of the leaders of the armed underground, Ali "Magas" Taziev, who demanded compensation for the demolition of their house in Ingushetia by law enforcers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 27, 2005, armed men in black masks and military uniforms arrived, in an armoured personnel carrier (APC), several minivans and cars without registration number plates, in the village of Nasyr-Kort of the Republic of Ingushetia. Taziev's relatives said that the APC drove into the yard, and after a many-hour-long search, it turned out that furniture was broken, carpets and dishes damaged, and documents and valuables had disappeared.
The ECtHR has agreed with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Russia, who had justified the search of the house of Taziev's family by the inquiry of a criminal case. The Russian party gave convincing arguments about Taziev's links with the applicants' residence, the ECtHR has decided.
The Court has also accepted the arguments of the Russian party that the bomb found in the basement of the applicants' house, which law enforcers failed to neutralize, was blown up on the spot.
On October 15, 2013, the court sentenced Taziev to life imprisonment on charges of heading a group of militants, which, according to investigators, in 2007, blew up a bus in Nevinnomyssk, and in 2009, undermined the building of the OVD (Interior Division) in Ingushetia and made an attempt on the life of the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Evkurov. On July 9, 2015, Taziev was sentenced to the second life sentence within the case of a militants' attack under the leadership of Shamil Basaev on state facilities in Ingushetia.
