Chechen authorities break their promises to paralyzed woman
Over the past two years, Lizan Isakova, a paralyzed resident of Grozny, received no help from Chechen authorities, although back in 2017, Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, ordered to improve her living conditions. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has turned to Daudov, recalling his unfulfilled promises given to the disabled woman.
The 47-year-old Lizan Isakova has appealed to the HRC "Memorial" asking for help her in defending her rights. The paralyzed resident of Chechnya had repeatedly appealed to the republic's authorities asking to provide her with appropriate housing, social support and medical care, but received none of this.
After her complaint, Magomed Daudov, the Speaker, has personally instructed the officials to solve the woman's problems. "But the instructions remained unfulfilled," Galina Tarasova, a lawyer of the HRC "Memorial", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Bureaucrats are actually ignoring the Speaker's instructions, says the HRC's appeal to Mr Daudov.
"We hereby ask you to check Ms Isakova's assertions about the Chechen authorities' inaction and [...] take measures to ensure proper consideration of her appeals, fulfilment of the instruction, and punishment of the officials in charge," says the rights defenders' appeal to Speaker Daudov.
