"Golos" defines overstatement scale of voter turnout in Northern Caucasus
The disposal of documents on the 2018 Russian presidential election, which should be held today in the country's regions, is essential for investigating violations, said Roman Udot, a board member of the "Golos" (Vote) Movement in Defence of Voters' Rights, after the vigorous analysis of video records from polling stations.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that during the voting at the presidential election in Russia on March 18, 2018, observers revealed a significant overstatement of voter turnout and numerous cases of ballot stuffing.
Law enforcers had a whole year to check the applications about violations, having studied these documents, but they failed to take any real actions, Mr Udot has stated.
With the documents, it is easier for investigators to prove falsifications of the vote, he has noted.
By the first anniversary of the presidential election, the "Golos" has summed up the data on the voter turnout overstatement in the Krasnodar Territory, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia. With the help of video records, volunteers of the movement manually counted all the voters who visited polling stations on the voting day. According to their calculations, the overstatement of the official turnout data in these regions ranges from a quarter to one third.
