Brother and advocate claim torture of resident of Ingushetia
A brother of Said Barkinkhoev, a 27-year-old resident of Ingushetia, detained on suspicion of robbery, claimed he had been tortured. Visit Tsoroev, an advocate of the detainee, said that he had fixed traces of torture on his client.
On March 21, Said Barkinkhoev was detained by law enforcers in his own household, Barkinkhoev's brother told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to the brother, law enforcers searched Said's house and found nothing illegal; but after the search they took him away.
Mr Tzoroev, a Said's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that a criminal case was initiated against his client under Part 2, Article 162, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery committed by a group of persons under a preliminary conspiracy); and at the moment, Barkinkhoev is a suspect of committing the crime.
The advocate said, referring to his client, that law enforcers demanded from Barkinkhoev to give confessions to committing the crime, but he refused to admit his guilt.
"He (Barkinkhoev) says that they put a bag over his head and periodically tortured him with electric current and kicked him up," said Tsoroev, noting that he had drawn up an act of examining Barkinkhoev and recorded traces of torture on his body.
