Russian military exercises held in Abkhazia
About 1500 Russian military servicemen of the Southern Military District (SMD) took part in the exercises held at Abkhaz training ranges, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.
The exercises were held in the mountains and on the coast; the militaries conducted the active phase thereof with live fire at the Tsabal and Nagvalou ranges.
According to the SMD's spokesman, the militaries hit about a thousand targets that imitated enemy's infantry and helicopters. In total, more than 400 pieces of military equipment and machinery were in play, including modern T-72B3 tanks.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this February, about a thousand soldiers took part in exercises in the mountains of Abkhazia. Two motorized infantry companies from the Russian military base mastered their combat skills in the highlands.
