Dagestani human rights defender killed in Syria
Gulnara Rustamova, a well-known Dagestani human rights defender, a co-chair of the movement "Human Rights Protection", was killed in the Syrian city of Baguz, her friend Ayat Abdurakhmanova reported.
According to her, on Thursday, Gulnara Rustamova and several other people came under fire.
"The fire came from all sides. They realized that they would be killed either by a bullet or by a bomb," reported Ayat Abdurakhmanova.
"Gulnara Rustamova was killed... Many of you know her as a person who did a lot for the Muslims of the Caucasus," wrote Ayat Abdurakhmanova on Instagram.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the movement "Human Rights Protection" made public the violation of the rights of Dagestani residents. In 2011, at a meeting of the Human Rights Council under the Russian President in Makhachkala, Gulnara Rustamova reported about the problems of the killed militants' wives and presented a plan for creating a centre to help those women.
