Café owner in Yerevan urges to stop protests

Armen Petrosyan, one of the owners of the "Jazzve" café chain, has called upon his colleagues, café owners and workers, to stop protests in view of the current explosive situation, and move the struggle exclusively to the legitimate field.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 14, by decision of the Yerevan Mayoralty, two cafés in Freedom Square were demolished, despite protests of owners and employees. During the skirmishes of protesters with the police, four people were injured. 41 participants of the action were detained, 25 of them were released by the police by the end of the day.

Armen Petrosyan, a co-owner of the "Jazzve" café chain, has urged, in the café page on the Facebook, to stop actions and not to confront law enforcers.

In particular, he expressed regret that café employees and policemen were injured in the clashes. "This fact suggests that we must stop immediately. Neither business interest nor politics are worth human sacrifices," Mr Petrosyan wrote (as translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent).

He has urged his colleagues, owners and workers, to stop protests. "Given the current explosive situation, it's necessary to move the struggle exclusively into the legitimate sphere," he believes.
