Suspected militant detained after shootout in Stavropol Territory

Law enforcers conducted searches in the village of Ust-Nevinsky, not far from which a special operation took place at night. It was reported on the arrest of an accomplice of two killed militants.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that tonight, the law enforcement bodies received the information about two armed men near the farm yard of Balki in the Shpakovsky District. Both suspects were killed in the exchange of fire with law enforcers, no one else was injured, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reports. According to the NAC, the killed suspects were natives of the Volgograd Region, who joined the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, and came to the Stavropol Territory to organize a terror act.

Today's special operation conducted in the Shpakovsky District became the first armed incident in the Stavropol Territory since early 2019.

The special operation took place a kilometer from the village of Ust-Nevinsky near the farm yard of Balki in the Shpakovsky District, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to the NAC.

In the very village of Ust-Nevinsky, law enforcers conducted searches in the house where the men killed last night lived recently. In the house, the law enforcers discovered an explosive device with striking elements, as well as traumatic guns, symbols of the "Islamic State" (IS)*, and religious extremist books. A suspected third member of the militant grouping was also arrested, who, according to the law enforcement bodies, was also trained at IS* camps abroad, reports the NAC's Information Centre.

According to the law enforcement bodies' information, the killed suspects intended to commit terror acts to kill religious figures and other civilians, the "Kommersant" reports.
