Three persons fell victim to shootouts on Azerbaijan-Iran border within two days

In the course of the second exchange of fire within two days on the border with Iran, a man who tried to illegally enter the territory of Azerbaijan was killed, the law enforcement bodies report today. This is the third victim of armed incidents, which were reported since March 10.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on March 10, on the border near the village of Bala Bakhmanli (in the Fizuli District of Azerbaijan), several armed people tried to illegally cross the border with Iran. As a result of the shootout, Junior Sergeant Sakhavat Mamedov was killed and Vidadi Djabrailov, a fighter of a border unit, got a gunshot wound to his arm.

At about 00:07 a.m. on today, border guards discovered six violators of the Azerbaijani-Iranian state border near the Azerbaijani village of Ostair. An armed group of people initiated a shootout after warning shots of border guards and their demands to surrender. One of the violators got fatal wounds and was killed at the place, reports today the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan on its website.

Other violators managed to escape, but they failed to break through the border.
