In Yerevan, bus drivers stop their strike

The chief of the Transport Department at the Yerevan City Mayoralty convinced drivers on strike to return to the routes. The drivers who are not satisfied with the new working conditions may quit, states the Vice-Mayor of the Armenian capital.

On Thursday, about 250 drivers of Yerevan buses began a strike against the installation of video surveillance cameras inside buses. The strikers also said that they were not satisfied with the new working conditions.

The conflict with the bus drivers will be settled, reports Elbak Tarposhyan, the director of the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Autobus". According to him, the drivers misunderstood the experiment with the installation of video surveillance cameras.

The drivers were warned in advance about the installation of video surveillance cameras, reported Grachya Sargsyan, the First Vice-Mayor of Yerevan. He suggested that the protest was "organized by someone."

The drivers returned to work, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports. The protesters stated that they took to the routes after a meeting with Genrikh Navasardyan, the chief of the Transport Department at the Yerevan City Mayoralty. He promises not to install video surveillance cameras in buses and not to change the format of the daily plan until its alternative is developed, the "Novosti-Armenia" reports.
