Man killed in CTO zone in Dagestan

A militant who was plotting a terror act was killed during a shootout with law enforcers in the Derbent District of Dagestan, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) announced and reported on the completion of the counterterrorist operation (CTO).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the CTO legal regime has been introduced today in the Derbent District of Dagestan. Sources from the law enforcement bodies reported a shootout with militants cordoned off in a house in the village of Belidji.

According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", the CTO in the Derbent District became the second one during 10 months.

"Weapons, ammunition and a 'suicide belt' were found at the place of the armed clash. A laboratory for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) was found in one of the houses," reported the NAC on its website.

According to the NAC, the militant opened fire on law enforcers and was shot dead. He "was recently released after serving his sentence under the charge of illegal arms trafficking," the TASS reports.

The killed man planned to "commit a terror act using a powerful IED in Derbent," the TASS reports with reference to the NAC.

The killed militant has been identified as Sakhib Abakarov, born in 1996, the Ren-TV reports.
