Dagestani activists show disputable territories on Chechen border to Shikhsaidov

Members of the Dagestani Public Commission on the border with Chechnya have shown Khizri Shikhsaidov, the Speaker of the Dagestani Parliament, the potentially disputable territories for the demarcation. In his turn, he has assured that Dagestan has no intent to give any land to Chechnya.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the authorities of Chechnya and Dagestan agreed to complete by late 2019 the establishment of the border between the republics. The authorities of both republics do not ask each other to cede any territories, stated Magomed Daudov, the chairman of the Chechen parliament.

On February 15, a meeting took place of Speaker Shikhsaidov with members of the above public commission dedicated to the border with Chechnya.

Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the parties reached an agreement that the head of Dagestan would receive the names of the activists for the inclusion into the government commission on fixing the border with Chechnya.

At the meeting, historians, Shakhban Khapizov and Zurab Gadjiev, outlined some territorial "painful points" concerning the border with Chechnya, Shahrudin Khalidov, another participant in the meeting, told the "Caucasian Knot".

The correction of the Dagestani-Chechen border takes place within the existing administrative border; and no transfer of any land to Chechnya is planned, Mr Shikhsaidov stated at the meeting.
