Two believers detained at Salafi mosque in Makhachkala

On February 15, policemen conducted a preventive raid in the area of the mosque in Omarov Street; all the detainees are already back at large, the spokesman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan has stated. Such raids are held every Friday, the journalist, Idris Yusupov, has added.

One of the policemen explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that an operative-preventive action "Weapons" was being held. Two believers were detained, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, who witnessed the detentions, has reported.

One of the mosque-goers had no documents on him; he was taken to the police station. The other one showed his passport, but policeman said they needed to check the authenticity of the document. Besides, policemen were interested in the detainee's knife, for which he could not provide the required documents.

The Dagestani MIA has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that a preventive action was held in the area of Omarov Street. "Several people were taken to the police station for identification. At the moment, all of them are released," said a MIA source without specifying the exact number of detainees.

Idris Yusupov, a journalist, who also witnessed the detentions, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that police raids at the mosque are conducted every Friday.
