Three residents of North Ossetia arrested after assaulting policemen

One of the persons accused of beating up inspectors of the road-and-patrol service (DPS) in Vladikavkaz has been taken into custody; two more were placed under house arrest, investigators have announced today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on January 25, in Vladikavkaz, a group of men attacked two DPS inspectors, who were chasing an infringer. The police detained three persons.

Investigators have specified that one of the attackers suddenly struck a DPS inspector with his fist in the head; the inspector fell to the ground. Two other men attacked another inspector. They hit him in the face, ripped off the shoulder strap and the badge of a policeman. The attackers were drunk. Both policemen after the fight had bruises and abrasions, the report says.

One of the detainees, a 34-year-old resident of Beslan, was placed behind bars by the court decision. Two others, a 24-year-old resident of Beslan and a 27-year-old resident of the village of Suadag, were left under house arrest. All three were charged under the article "The use of violence against a power official", the Investigating Department for North Ossetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has informed on its website today.
