Armenian online edition unblocked in Russia after diplomats' intervention

The Russian-language version of the "Aravot" is excluded from the register of violators of the law on the protection of personal data, the editor-in-chief of the online edition has reported. Earlier, the editorial board received three demands from the "Roskomnadzor" to exclude the name of a Russian businessman from publications.

In February this year, the "Aravot" reported about the blocking of the resource in Russia for refusing to remove the data on a businessman of Armenian origin from the material on cooperation of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) with crime bosses.

Anna Israelyan, the editor-in-chief of the "Aravot", said in her Facebook that after the edition was blocked in Russia, Satik Seiranyan, the head of the Armenian Union of Journalists, addressed the "Roskomnadzor"; and the Armenian MFA also came into play.

The "Aravot" has fulfilled the demand of the "Roskomnadzor", received on January 24, 2019, Ms Israelyan has explained. However, the edition refused to edit the statements of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia about the businessman in question.

Let us note here that the point is in the material from the Voice of America, which, apart from the Sochi entrepreneur, mentioned eight Russian citizens and one of Uzbekistan.
