Fingerprint expert denies accusations of falsifying cases of five residents of Ingushetia
The court that is considering the case of Salamkhan Sampiev, Ruslan Esmurziev, Khusen Kitiev, Magomed Amatkhanov and Elbert Kharsiev, accused of preparing terror acts in Ingushetia and Moscow, has listened to a fingerprint expert. He rejected the statement on "signs of falsification," made by the expert, invited by the defence.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 15, 2016, the FSB announced the detention of five persons. According to law enforcers, they has plotted terror acts in Ingushetia and Moscow and had links with the "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia by the court. On February 4, 2019, the court refused to initiate proceedings on detainees' application of torture.
Marat Utyushev, an advocate of Salamkhan Sampiev, has stated the accusatory bias of the court.
"The punishment is likely to be severe ... All the proofs are very suspicious. I think those who were really involved in the charges were liquidated already during the detention," he said, noting that the defendants have accidentally found themselves in this position – "by virtue of kinship, friendship or place of residence."
