Georgia: two persons detained for beating up LGBT supporters
Two attacks based on intolerance to non-traditional sexual orientation committed in Georgia; two suspects were detained, the police said.
The incidents occurred on January 31 in Kutaisi and on February 1 in Rustavi. According to the police, in Kutaisi, a teenager insulted and beat up a minor supporter of gay sex, whom he had oppressed earlier. He was accused of violence on the grounds of intolerance to sexual orientation and violation of equality of people, the "News of Georgia" writes with reference to the Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
On February 1, in Rustavi, two young men, one of them – a teenager, attacked a supporter of the non-traditional sexual orientation, began insulting and beating him, the police reported. Policemen detained one of the attackers.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that a 21-year-old resident of Georgia, suspected of attacking the Success Bar employees, was detained in January.
