Residents of Chechnya complain about disconnections at gas inspectors' raids
During their raid in the Chechen village of Tsotsi-Yurt, gas inspectors disconnected several private houses, local residents have reported. The gas specialists explained their raids by checking the safety and detection of possible gas thefts. The disconnections occurred amid the resonance around an attempt to write off billion-rouble debts accumulated by residents of the republic.
Earlier, on January 18, mass inspections of gas equipment were conducted in houses in the Chechen capital, after the explosion in a residential building in the town of Shakhty, Rostov Region, which killed five people.
"Gas professionals came with their equipment. If something was wrong, they cut off the line without talking," said Vakha, a villager.
Checks are ongoing in the capital of Chechnya too. Local residents express dissatisfaction with the frequent visits of gas servicemen.
"Earlier, they were collecting gas debts; now, they're looking for some violations. How long will it last?" Alikhan, a resident of Grozny, has asked.
"To be honest, we're sick and tired of these endless checks and rechecks," Toita, a local resident, has added.
