Commission on Dagestani-Chechen border created

The first meeting of officials of Chechnya and Dagestan to define the border between the two regions was held in Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 20, the head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, called the revision of the border with Chechnya as "mandatory work." On Tuesday, January 22, Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, discussed the border issue with the National Assembly of Dagestan.

Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information, has stated that there are no territorial disputes with Dagestan.

Let us note here that the Chechen-Ingush border agreement was also preceded by the work of the commission. The signing of the document led to massive two-week-long protests in Magas, the Ingush capital. The collection of signatures for the cancellation of the border agreement and resignation of the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, is still ongoing.
