"Russian Community of Abkhazia" calls on authorities to investigate attacks on Russian citizens

On January 16, the "Russian Community of Abkhazia" issued a statement in connection with the aggravation of the criminal situation and resonant crimes against Russian citizens committed in Abkhazia over the past several days. The public association called on the authorities to take measures to catch the criminals.

The statement released by the "Russian Community of Abkhazia" mentions the murder of Mikhail Maslov, a native of Kostroma, in the village of Tamysh in the Ochamchyr District and the attempt to murder Russian entrepreneur Mikhail Evalenko in the village of Ldzaa in the Gagra District.

"We are shocked and we express our indignation about the villainous murder of Mikhail Maslov, a native of Kostroma, in the village of Tamysh in the Ochamchyr District. The tragic incident occurred at night on January 14. Five years ago, the Russian citizen moved to Abkhazia with his family members and worked as an auto mechanic," emphasizes the "Russian Community of Abkhazia" in its statement published on its website.

On January 15, an Audi Q7 car was blown up in the village of Ldzaa in the Gagra District. Criminals tried to kill Mikhail Evalenko, a native of Moscow. The Russian entrepreneur lived in Abkhazia for a long time and was engaged in business, reports the "Russian Community of Abkhazia" in its statement.

"We call on the authorities to take all measures to catch the armed criminals," the statement emphasizes.
