86 people seek help after collapse of house in Shakhty

This morning, an explosion has occurred in a multi-storey building in the city of Shakhty. Four apartments on the eighth and ninth floors of the residential building are destroyed. One person died, and other seven, including a two-year-old girl who was hospitalized to the regional children's hospital, were rescued from the ruins.

140 people are evacuated from a multi-storey building where the explosion has occurred today. Of them, 86 sought help at a temporary accommodation centre, reported the spokesperson for the temporary accommodation centre. According to tenants of the building affected by the explosion, the authorities promise to accommodate them in hotels, but no rooms have been provided yet.

"In total, 140 people are evacuated from the house. Of them, 43 people are rescued from the affected block of the building, and other seven people are removed from under the ruins. One person died, and the fate of other four still remains unknown," reported at 12:30 p.m. Moscow time the website of the Department for the Rostov Region of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE).

Meanwhile, according to the MfE, there is a threat of a collapse of the building.
