South Ossetia closes border with Georgia because of swine flu

It was decided to close the border with Georgia from 8:00 p.m. Moscow time on January 11 to prevent the spread of the H1N1 virus, the South-Ossetian State Security Committee (known as KGB) has announced.

A death from swine flu was fixed in Georgia on December 24, 2018, in Batumi. By January 10, the death toll of the disease in Georgia reached 13 people; and the country's Rescue Service was transferred to the emergency service regime.

Residents of South Ossetia told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they fear of getting infected with swine flu.

Let us note here that South Ossetia often announces the closure of the border with Georgia for several days. Thus, from December 30, 2018, to January 2, 2019, the border was closed for the time of New Year celebrations.
