One of victims of Batumi hurricane dies

A resident of Batumi hospitalized on January 4 after roof collapse because of a strong wind has died in hospital. Another victim was operated on; his life is out of danger.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on January 4, a fragment of the roof of a nine-storey building in Batumi was blown down by a strong wind into the street, where there were people. Two local residents were injured.

One of the victims, a 54-year-old employee of the Batumi Mayoralty, was taken to the "Medical Centre" Clinic. He had a closed craniocerebral trauma and numerous injuries of internal organs in the chest area. Doctors connected him to an artificial respirator. However, they couldn't save his life, the Channel One of the Georgian TV has reported.

Doctors estimate the condition of the second victim as stably grave. The 60-year-old man has multiple fractures; he is in the intensive care unit of the referral hospital of Batumi, where he has undergone a surgery. In doctors' opinion, he has no injuries incompatible with the life, the "News-Georgia" reports.
