Sale of tickets to "Love Yourself" concert film suspended in Chechnya

A Grozny cinema has stopped selling tickets to the film about the BTS Korean pop group against the background of a similar decision taken in Makhachkala.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the screening of the film "Love Yourself" about the Korean BTS pop group, scheduled for January 2019, was cancelled in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan. The administration of the Russian BTS fan club explained the cancellation of the screening by threats in social networks.

The sale of tickets to the "Love Yourself" film-concert has been suspended, the Grozny movie theatre "Kinostar" declared in its Instagram page on January 3.

The authors of the Chechen public "Karfagen" in the social network "VKontakte" have sharply opposed the screening of the film. On January 1, they treated the screening as an attempt to "insult the Chechen people in the best way."

The threats, after which the film was cancelled in Makhachkala, pose a real danger, while the repeated disruption of cultural events in Dagestan causes serious damage to the society, the journalists and the head of the local office of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", believe.
