Request for extradition of Serzh Sargsyan's nephew sent to Czech Republic
The Armenian party has asked to extradite Narek Sargsyan, who was detained in Prague within the case of possessing narcotic drugs and firearms, the Armenian General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) announced on January 3.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early July 2018, law enforcers found drugs and firearms in the apartment of Narek Sargsyan, a nephew of Serzh Sargsyan, the third President of Armenia. The search of the apartment was conducted because of the suspicion that Narek Sargsyan had fraudulently obtained 14 graphic drawings by the famous artist Martiros Saryan. The Armenian National Security Service (NSS) then put the suspected Narek on the wanted list; and on December 6, Czech law enforcers detained Narek Sargsyan in Prague.
On January 3, Arevik Khachatryan, the head of the public relations division of the GPO of Armenia, has informed that the GPO had sent a request to the Czech Republic for the extradition of Narek Sargsyan, wanted for possessing firearms and drugs, the RIA "Novosti" has reported.
Ms Khachatryan has clarified that the package of documents for the extradition of the former president's nephew was sent on December 28, 2018, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports.
