Second activist detained after clashes with police in Georgia
The detainee is suspected that, together with David Kirkitadze, the leader of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party, he attacked law enforcers in the Gurdjaani District, the Georgian police have stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 17, in Gurdjaani, Georgian law enforcers detained David Kirkitadze, a UNM activist, within the case about clashes of oppositionists with policemen on December 16. David refused to plead guilty and went on a protest hunger strike.
In the Gardabani District, policemen of the Kakheti Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia detained a man, born in 1986, in connection with the attack on policemen during the disorders on December 16 in the Gurdjaani District of Kakheti, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the MIA on December 18.
Investigators have established that the man "acting together with the UNM leader, David Kirkitadze, attacked the policemen, who were sitting in a MIA bus," the ministry has reported. The offence provides for from four to seven years in prison, says the message.
