KChR resident suspected of links with Syrian militants
Investigators have put a resident of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) on the international wanted list on suspicion of his participation in the warfare in Syria on the side of militants.
According to investigators, in 2014, the KChR resident reached Turkey from the Stavropol Airport, from where he got to the "Muaskar Sabri" training camp of militants located near the Syrian city of Tabka. Since January 2015, he has already been fighting among militants of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court. He "failed to surrender his firearms and ammunition, did not stop his participating in the international terrorist organization, and did not return to the Russian Federation," says the today's report of the Investigating Department (ID) for the KChR of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
A case has been opened against the 27-year-old KChR native under the article on participation in the organization, which, in accordance with the Russian legislation, was recognized as terrorist, the above ID has reported on its website. The alleged militant faces up to 20 years in prison.
