Most Ingush MPs ignore Sharia Court

Only 10 out of 30 members of the Ingush Parliament came to a session of the Sharia Court. They said they had voted against the law on the border with Chechnya. The Sharia Court has asked the Council of Teips of Ingushetia to interview the MPs, who had ignored the session.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Ingush Council of Teips (family clans) summoned the MPs to the Sharia Court to define their voting for the border law.

According to Zakri Mamilov, an MP, many of his colleagues decided not to go to the Court after the appeal of the Council of Alims to ignore the Sharia Court because of its incompetence in addressing state issues.

Since there were too few MPs heard, it was impossible to establish whether the vote was falsified, Mr Mamilov has noted, adding that the Council of Teips will "convince" the MPs to tell about the voting; however, it has no right to press them and demand information.

The Sharia Court may recognize the decision of the Ingush Parliament as contradicting the Islam, but it cannot enforce its decision, said the experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

"According to the Koran, those who refused to come to the Sharia Court, have refused from Allah," Sarazhdin Sultygov, the co-chairman of the movement "Mekhk Khel", believes.

He explained the absence of MPs at the session by their fear.
