Mourning for Nazran casualties unites Muslim communities

Various believers' communities got united in mourning for the residents of Ingushetia killed on December 12 in Nazran. The commemoration held in Magas was jointly conducted by an official of the Ingush Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) and the Imam, independent from the Muftiate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the participants of the mass Friday namaz (prayer) in Magas pronounced a prayer for Muslim Khashagulgov and Ilez Khaniev, killed on December 12 in Nazran.

On December 12, an explosion occurred at the "Kovcheg" Shopping Centre. According to law enforcers, the alleged militants threw a grenade at policemen, wounding two of them; then, two of the attackers were killed. According to eyewitnesses, an activist Muslim Khashagulgov, who worked for the security of the shopping centre, and a seller Khaniev, were killed.

According to Timur Akiev, the head of the Ingush branch of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", said in his sermon, Adam Merzhoev, a representative of the SAM of Ingushetia, spoke about the value of human life. He recalled the times, when murders and extrajudicial executions were common in Ingushetia, and noted that a return to this practice is unacceptable.
