22 natives of Southern Caucasus detained in France
Suspected members of the Georgian, Armenian, and Azerbaijani organized criminal groupings were detained during a special operation in Lyon, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Georgia reports today.
According to the police, the suspects were engaged in robbery and sale of drugs in France and Belgium.
Ten detainees are citizens of Georgia, including two "mafia bosses," the "Sputnik Georgia" quotes today the Georgian MIA as reporting. The nationalities of the other detainees are not reported. However, it is noted that all suspects acted as members of "Georgian, Armenian, and Azerbaijani organized criminal groupings."
The detainees are suspected of robbing apartments, stealing cars, making fake documents, and selling drugs, the "InterPressNews" reported on December 10 with reference to Vladimir Bortsvadze, the director for the Department of Central Criminal Police of Georgia.
