Political analysts name main challenges to Pashinyan's power

Socio-economic problems will affect Nikol Pashinyan's rating; however, there will be no sharp drop in the trust in the government, the Armenian political analysts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", believe. In their opinion, only concessions in the Karabakh issue can crash his rating.

Socio-economic problems may affect Pashinyan's rating, but a sharp drop in confidence in the government is possible only in the case of some force majeure circumstances, Johnny Melikyan, a political analyst, has stated.

His colleague Armen Vardanyan objects by saying that economic problems caused by the foreign debt of 900 million US dollars may affect the confidence in the government as early as 2019.

In his opinion, the politics, which contradicts the interests of Armenia in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, can affect the government's rating.

"The opposition has always accused authorities of surrendering the territories," Mr Vardanyan has reminded, noting that the settlement of the Karabakh conflict is the most complicated issue for any government.

Arthur Kazinyan, a political analyst, names the growth of welfare of the people who supported them during the "velvet" revolution as the main challenge to the authorities.

"People have exaggerated expectations ... In spring, it will be possible to understand how people are really disappointed," he has explained.

The whole ideology of the new government is based on the hatred of the former one, that Republicans, led by Serzh Sargsyan, who plundered the country, the political analyst has stated.

Ms Kazinyan treats the talks about the ruling party's intention to conquer corruption as populism. In his opinion, the voting at elections is not political, but emotional.
