Georgian President's son-in-law detained during special operation in Tbilisi

Policemen placed Mindiya Gogochuri, a son-in-law of the President of Georgia, suspected of possessing weapons and hiding a crime, into a detention centre.

Mindiya Gogochuri, 29, was detained at night on December 6 in an apartment in Amashukeli Street in Tbilisi.

Together with him, policemen detained his friend, who had been wanted for intentionally causing grave harm to one's health, the "Sputnik Georgia" wrote on December 6 with reference to the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

During a search of the apartment, where Gogochuri lived, a bullet-proof vest was found, and in the street outside the house – two pistols, which, allegedly, he and his friend threw out of the apartment, when law enforcement officers appeared, the police assert.

The case is being investigated under the articles of the illegal possession of firearms and non-reporting a crime, the "News-Georgia" quotes the MIA's message, adding that Gogochuri was placed in the SIZO (pre-trial prison).

Let us remind you that Mindiya Gogochuri is the son-in-law of the current Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, since he is in unregistered marriage with the daughter of the First Lady of Georgia.
