Russian CC appoints date of announcing its verdict on Ingush-Chechen border

On December 6, the Constitutional Court (CC) of Russia will proclaim its decision on the constitutionality of the agreement on the Ingush-Chechen border, the CC's press service has announced today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 27, the Russia's CC ended its hearing on the issue of the Chechen-Ingush border. The CC's decision will be announced behind closed doors, Valery Zorkin, the Chairman of the CC, has announced. The representatives of the federal authorities, who spoke at the court, supported the republics' agreement. On the same day, the rally in Nazran demanded to cancel the border agreement, to dismiss the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, and to dissolve the parliament of Ingushetia.

On October 30, the Ingush CC found the republic's law on the border with Chechnya to be unconstitutional. Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of the republic, sent a request for verification of the agreement to the Russia's CC.

The CC's decision on the constitutionality of the agreement signed by the heads of Ingushetia and Chechnya, as well as of the Ingush law that has approved the agreement, will be proclaimed at 10:00 a.m. Moscow time on December 6.

The verification of the constitutionality of both documents was conducted at the request of the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the press service of the Russia's CC has recalled.
